Are you looking for MOT in Plymouth?
Are you searching for a DVSA-certified MOT testing centre for your vehicle's next MOT Plymouth?
Welcome to OBD Tech Plymouth, the reliable garage in Plymouth. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency has authorised our workshop and our certified testers to carry out the MOT test Plymouth for all Class 4 and Class 5 vehicle types.
What Is An MOT Inspection?
The MOT is an annual inspection of vehicles in the UK to ensure they meet all the necessary safety and environmental standards. The test is a legal requirement for most vehicles over three years old (since their official registration) * that are used on public roads.
Are you not quite sure which class your vehicle belongs to?
Please read on to find out more about the class of vehicles we inspect and also the components we check:
Class 4 MOT Plymouth
The following vehicles belong to the Class 4 category:
- 3-wheeled vehicles
- 8-seater passenger cars
- Ambulances
- Dual purpose vehicles
- Up to 8-seater private hire and public service vehicles
- Taxis
- Goods vehicles up to 3,000 kg
- Motor caravans
Some of the components we check:
- We carry out checks of your vehicle's essential components, including lights, brakes, steering, suspension, wheels, tyres, exhaust system and more.
- We measure your vehicle's emissions to ensure they comply with all environmental standards.
- The structural integrity of your vehicle is checked, including examining the chassis, body, and overall condition.
- We verify the VIN on the vehicle's windscreen to ensure it matches the information in the vehicle's registration documentation. We also check the condition of the vehicle's numberplates.
Class 5 MOT Plymouth
The following vehicles belong to the Class 5 category:
- More than 13-seats private passenger vehicles and ambulances
- Playbuses
Some of the Class 5 components we check:
- We thoroughly inspect the seat belts, checking for proper functionality and secure mounting.
- We thoroughly check whether all passengers can easily access emergency exits for safe evacuation in an emergency situation.
- We check all inside- and outside lights to ensure adequate illumination for safe driving.
- Similar to Class 4, we assess the structural integrity.
The complete list of MOT checkpoints can be found on the Government website or at our test centre. Our testers will be happy to go through the list with you.
* Please note: Taxis, ambulances and Class V vehicles are subject to their first MOT inspection from the second year of their initial registration.
Depending on the test results, our testers will issue a VT20 (pass) or VT30 (fail) certificate. In case of an MOT failure, the vehicle must no longer be parked or driven on public roads. All major or dangerous faults must be rectified, and a partial retest must be done afterwards. Only then can a VT20 be issued, which is valid for 12 months.
